Why cut your own Christmas tree?
There is nothing like a natural Christmas tree for Christmas. The strong smell of pine, and the real feel bring a festive air to your home. It is a great experience as a family to get outside and have some fun in the fresh air while you choose your tree, and choosing the perfect tree is a tradition handed down by generation in many families.
What is the environmental impact of cutting our own Christmas Tree?
Christmas trees at Cal & Shan's are the most environmentally friendly crop around. This is because a tree is harvested only after seven years. To ensure future harvests, ninety percent of the farm must remain in trees all the time. We create jobs and provide a completely natural product, and our farm provides refuge for a multitude of bird, insect and mammal species. Real Christmas trees are 100% biodegradable. Real Christmas trees go right on giving long after the Christmas season is over. They can be used as bird feeders, wood products can be made from their stems or they can be used as wildlife cover in reservoirs, etc.

Care of Christmas trees
Keep your Real Tree safe and beautiful throughout the holiday season. If you can't set your newly cut tree up right away, keep the stub in water, out of the sun. Make a new cut off the bottom of the trunk a half an inch from the bottom before putting in the stand. Keep the tree stand full of water at all times, checking the water level daily. Do not use any additives for the water. Keep your tree away from heat sources or furnace registers, We suggest even away from computers and televisions.
