Hallmark Channel comes out to Cal & Shan’s Christmas Tree Farm Saturday: chance to win a trip to the ‘North Pole’

ChristmasTreePosterCome out to Cal & Shan’s Christmas Tree Farm at 14216 Thayer Road, Woodstock, Saturday and you can cut your own Christmas tree. More than that, you might win a trip to the ‘North Pole’ or a spot on the Hallmark Channel.

“The Hallmark Channel called us and asked if we would like to participate in their program,” said Melissa Manke, whose husband, Todd Manke, owns Cal & Shan’s.  “They’ll be out here Saturday all day – from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.”

The chance to win a trip to the ‘North Pole’ is part of the Hallmark Channel’s “Snow Much Fun Sweepstakes.” Other prizes include gingerbread house, cocoa and cookie kits; snowman apparel, a snow tube or sled and outwear gift card; and a digital camera and photo publishing service gift card.

The trip to the ‘North Pole’ actually doesn’t go to the magnetic pole but rather includes airfare and transportation to Rovaniemi, Finland. There, after a one-night stopover in Helsinki, the winner spends three nights in a Rovaniemi hotel, a visit with Santa at the world famous Santa Claus Village, a trip to a reindeer farm, a Northern Lights excursion and dogsled tour, $1,000 spending money for food and souvenirs and $500 for North Pole appropriate clothing.

Even if you don’t win a trip to the ‘North Pole,’ the Hallmark Channel is handing out two large boxes worth of deer-antler head wear. And an opportunity to cut your own tree at a local tree farm is another benefit of coming out to Cal & Shan’s Saturday.

“This is the traditional way people got their Christmas trees each year,” said Todd Manke. “They took an axe and went out into the woods to cut a tree. It was before people sold trees in strip-mall parking lots and before artificial trees.”
